Seva @ Home: Day 1

My mom and I are starting our own Seva at home!  Seva means service. In Sikhism, seva refers to selfless service for altruistic purposes on behalf of, and for the betterment of a Community. My mom created a Fundraiser to help her complete a spiritual and life changing event for herself in Colorado.  She decided why not start at home? Here we go!

Wanna join us! No problem it can be done ANYWHERE. Here is the  Shoshoni’s Seva Program, where my mom will be attending.

Meditating

5:30 AM Meditation
7:00 AM Breakfast ( Vegetarian or Vegan )
7:45 – 12:00 Seva ( work )
12:00 – 12:45 Lunch
12:45 – 4:30 Seva
4:30 – 5:30 YOGA
5:30 Dinner
6:00 – 7:00 Clean Up
7:00 – 8:00 Meditation

Mine will be a tad bit different  since I have my baby girl Stella and I’m still doing my Pooch to 5 k( woot week 2!) So if you have been following me on my jogging journey why not do this too. What I will do first thing in the morning is feed Stella then do my meditation/yoga  with mom. She has a wonderful blog on how she is going to do it and has wonderful suggestions.

Also during our time we will be mostly going vegetarian. If we do have meats it will be either local or organic. So this wil be our Grocery List.

I’m Back!
January 19, 2013

Woot! Knee is healed and I’m back to jogging finally! This last week was so lazy I went on the inversion table for a little bit but just laziness after that. But It feels good to be back jogging. Golly I love it so much!  This time I took my other dog Dakota, an American Bull dog, very lazy but he did great and at a wonderful pace. Now he’s sleeping like a baby lol. My mom and daughter also came along! Stella loves being outside in the stroller.

Also, what I have decided to do is repeat the weeks until I master them. So, I am back to week 1. I’m thinking it may take me about 2 weeks , maybe even less,  to have a steady pace. I’m so done with being non motivated to do nothing, it doesn’t bring me any closer to being where I wanna be. So, Summer here I come and watch out I’m bringing as many people I can with me on this journey.

Week 2 Pooch to 5k: Oh the Knee’s!

Holy junk! Ok so today is was my day two of week two of the pooch to 5k. Boy oh boy so my knee’s hate me right now. It’s obviously been quite sometime since I last jogged and I also was probably a little bit smaller. So I’m guessing its my weight putting a bunch of pressure on my knee joints. I’m suppose to jog 90 seconds and walk 2 minuets 6 times. Well. I only got to 1 1/2 times lol. It hurt. So, coming back home I looked up ways to help get rid of my pain and heal the knee’s. That’s when I found the R.I.C.E method. Rest, Ice, Compression and Elevation. That is what I am doing until I feel I can get back to jogging without hurting myself again. So during my break I will continue my yoga, do more knee and leg exercises, and going on the inversion table. 

Also, on other pages I saw that you should have some Ibuprofen. I don’t use ibuprofen any more so my mom found a natural pain relief. Tumeric and water!

  • 1-2 tsp. of Turmeric Powder or

  • 1 Oz Juiced Turmeric Root

  • 1 cup coconut water OR

  • Mix into fresh vegetable juice made in your juicer (celery, cucumber, ginger & lemon is a great anti-inflammatory juice to mix your turmeric into)

It’s not so tasty but it gets the job done!

Holy Moly: Week 2 Pooch to 5k
January 8, 2013

Well, I didn’t do so bad the first week! I didn’t do the whole 7 days of jogging but I did 4 days!I still did my yoga, jumping and inversion table all week. My body is very happy and so is my dog. I didn’t have much problems with my body feeling discomfort, but my knee’s are a little soar. This hasn’t happened to me before but hey its also been about 5 years since I us to jog regularly.

This week is going to be a little different. Jogging 90 seconds the walking 2 minuets. Today it wasn’t that bad actually. I just got to remember next time to bring water. Silly me.

As far as my resolutions go I have been doing every day of my 30 day art challenge. Obviously I’m on to losing my weight. Which is amazing! Visalus and just made the challenge even more exciting! I’m about to start reading The Pillars of the Earth. So far so good! ALSO, my birthday is in 16 more days! Woot, woot! Her I come 21 🙂

Whoa!: Week 1 Pooch to 5k

Hello there! Well, as you know I haven’t posted since, hmm lets see… JULY! Holy moly. Well, first thing is first.  Stella has been born! She’s now four months. Yeah its been a long time!

So, now since she’s four months I think its about that time to start my Pooch to 5k. I coulda started some time ago but I’m starting now.  I’ve been doing a jog/walk thing for two day’sish but today is my official start of the first week. This has been my routine: wake up, feed baby, put her back to sleep, jump on the mini trampoline for 5 minuets, go on the inversion table for 5 minuets, do some yoga for 10 minuets, then take my dog out and go jogging. Golly I love it! I have missed jogging so much! I had a dream about 4 nights ago just jogging everywhere and it felt so good. So, I put my foot down and said  ” That’s it! Time to start jogging.”

I will be doing this for everyday of the week not 3 days like this says. My “mentality laziness”  would just be very happy with taking 4 days off as a ” oh just don’t do this any more.” So 7 days it is! I have been also taking a Pro energy drink during my “in the house” work outs. Then as soon as getting back from jogging I have my shake. This morning I had a Cherry Banana Shake. Very, Very yummy! Not only is my reason to just to lose weight, be healthy and get my doggie happier. I’m also getting ready for this summer at a little convention I go to. I am so ready to be at my best  and look my best. My sexy little self is ready to shed off this fat suit.

My story
June 10, 2012

I’m just going to write a real quick first post. ( I think)

For as long as I can remember I have always been over weight. I decided to put an end to it January this year. I mean isn’t 2012 about new beginnings. So, I got right on it and joined the Body By Vi 90 Day Challenge! I haven’t looked back since. I started the challenge at 220 and ended my first challenge at 198. HOW awesome! 22lbs gone!  Then I got some big big big new beginning news. I found out I was pregnant on my birthday! So what am I to do!  I made some adjustments I stayed on the Challenge, but not the way you would think. My new priority was to be as healthy as possible during this pregnancy and knew I could do it with the help of the Body By Vi Challenge. So now I add 2 shakes and I don’t replace meals. This is helping me add massive Micro Nutrition to my body. And its helping me gain perfectly instead of gaining too much weight. I am now in my 3rd trimester. I’ve only gained 18lbs which is exactly how much I should be gaining. My doctor is thrilled and I feel good… Fantastic really.

Say, what about my physical exercise? Well, I love yoga! I just has to make some adjustments, like no twist no inversions no cobra (damn) but that’s okay I just keep going and enjoying how yoga benefits my body. I also go for walks. I take my dog with me. Her name is Addisson, and she’s going to be a really good sister/nanny.

What about after the baby?! Pooch to 5k program is coming up! ( my mom is doing that now ) I’m going to get more involved with my yoga practice. I’m going to do Vinyasa. I am also going to do crossfit ( I already do some now ).
